Growing futures together

A new primary school in Fisherman’s Bend

Narrarrang is inner-city Melbourne’s newest primary school. At Narrarrang, we empower all learners to thrive – as individuals, as thinkers, and as creators of a better future.

Behind our name

“Narrarrang” is a Bunurong Boonwurrung language word meaning “She-Oak”, a tree native to our local area. Pronounced “NUH-ruh-RUNG” with trilled ‘r’, our name was chosen by the traditional owners of the land, the Bunurong people.

The symbols in our logo are inspired by the She-Oak or Casuarina tree. Its seed pods remind us that even the smallest beginnings hold great potential. Its leaves show how learning continues to grow and stretch towards the future. Together, they represent Narrarrang as a place where every learner is supported to grow strong, stay connected, and thrive.

Growing from the ground up

At Narrarrang, we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Kulin Nation, the Custodians of the land on which we learn and grow. We honour their deep connection to land, sea, and sky — connections that continue to guide, sustain, and inspire. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging and recognise that their care of Country, stories, and voice live on in the future we are building together.
