Our approach

At Narrarrang, we believe that learning and wellbeing are the intertwined conditions for thriving. Students learn deeply when they feel safe, connected, and valued; and authentic wellbeing grows when children are engaged, challenged, and achieving. Our approach is deliberately designed to ensure every learner can succeed in learning and life, now and into the future.

Belonging as the foundation

When learners are seen, known, and valued they become part of a connected community and build a strong sense of belonging. Belonging to our community and building trusting relationships fosters the confidence to take on challenges, persist through difficulty, and thrive.

Engagement & empowerment

Learning is most powerful when it is purposeful, rigorous, and joyful. Learners are supported in applying their knowledge in meaningful contexts, thinking deeply, and solving problems for the greater good. Taking learning beyond ‘knowing’ to valuing ‘thinking’ and using this success to develop the confidence, agency and self-efficacy to thrive.

Exemplary practice & high expectations

Evidence-informed teaching builds the durable knowledge and skills every learner needs to open possibilities in learning and life. We hold high expectations for all learners’ achievement and growth because success fuels the confidence and joy that empower every learner to thrive.

Capabilities for life

Ensuring learners are knowledgeable, capable, and principled supports the development of character and capabilities, enabling all learners to excel. Our approach intentionally builds emotional literacy, resilience, social skills, and ethical decision-making, equipping every learner with the mindsets to thrive.

Every learner is seen, known and valued.

At Narrarrang, wellbeing enables learning and learning strengthens wellbeing. Every lesson, every relationship, and every experience is an opportunity to nurture both — so that our learners thrive as connected, compassionate, and courageous people, ready to shape a better future.

At Narrarrang, we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Kulin Nation, the Custodians of the land on which we learn and grow. We honour their deep connection to land, sea, and sky — connections that continue to guide, sustain, and inspire. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging and recognise that their care of Country, stories, and voice live on in the future we are building together.
